Answer: A. Repetition

Explanation: In these lines from Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven", the poetic device that Poe is using is repetition. Repetition is a literary device in which the author repeats words or phrases to make them memorable. "...some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door", these words are said twice in these lines. The narrator is reading on a bleak December night to forget that his beloved Lenore is dead. Is at midnight when a sudden noise fills him with fear. He tries to convince himself that it is some visitor and nothing more.

Clever wordsmiths that we are, we often cloak our actions in words and phrases to hide their impact or to mitigate and alleviate
shusha [124]

Answer:

Blame can put you in jail, take away your rights, deny you an afterlife, or worse - cause you to change your behavior.

Explanation:

The word satire refers to the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to criticize people or their ideas. For example, politicians have always been easy targets of satire.

In the last sentence, the word worse stands out. The narrator says that it's worse if blame changes your behavior than if it puts you in jail, takes away your rights, or even denies you an afterlife. Objectively the change of behavior is the least severe of the listed consequences, but the narrator for some reason says otherwise.

What is a main idea of the text 8 reasons why not to be spewed out by spiders this Halloween by Lizzy
AnnyKZ [126]

Answer:

I can see that there are no choices.

The main idea of text 8 is: "Do not fear spiders for there are only a few of them that are harmful to humans."

This supports the reason why spiders are not actually very dangerous. Many people are afraid of spiders thinking that all of them are harmful when in fact, only 0.5% of them are dangerous to humans.

Explanation:

The question above is related to the article entitled "Eight Reasons to Not be Spooked by Spiders this Halloween," written by Lizzy Lowe. She has listed down the different reasons as to why people should not be afraid of spiders. Instead of focusing on the bad side of spiders, she focused on how amazing the spider is.
