Boney Corporation processes sugar beets that it purchases from farmers. Sugar beets are processed in batches. A batch of sugar b

eets costs $51 to buy from farmers and $10 to crush in the company's plant. Two intermediate products, beet fiber and beet juice, emerge from the crushing process. The beet fiber can be sold as is for $21 or processed further for $11 to make the end product industrial fiber that is sold for $59. The beet juice can be sold as is for $42 or processed further for $24 to make the end product refined sugar that is sold for $59. What is the financial advantage (disadvantage) for the company from processing one batch of sugar beets into the end products industrial fiber and refined sugar rather than not processing that batch at all?

Answer:

Financial advantage of further processing = $22

Explanation:

As per the data given in the question,

Cost of batch = $51

Processing cost of batch = $10

Total cost of batch of sugar beets = $51 + $10 = $61

Sale of beet fiber without further processing = $21

Sale of juice fiber without further processing = $42

Total sale value =$21+$42 = $63

Cost of sugar beets = $61

Loss on sale without further processing = $63 - $61 = $2

Financial advantage :

Sale value = $59

Processing cost = $11

Incremental advantage = $59 - $11 = $48

Sale value of refined sugar = $59

Processing cost = $24

Incremental advantage = $59 - $24 = $35

Total Incremental advantage = $48 + $35 = $83

Total cost of beet sugar = $61

Financial advantage of further processing = $83 - $61 = $22

Hence, the batch of sugar beets would loss of $2 if not processed further but sold as beet fiber and beet juice.

The batch of sugar beets would earn a profit of $22 when processed further.

astraxan [27]

Answer:

The registered representative should accept the client's sell order, but must mark the order ticket as a long term. The representative can accept the order because it is reasonable that the client will be able to deliver the shares by the time of the settlement. If the representative marked the order ticket as a short sale, it is probable that the client will not be able to deliver the shares on time.

densk [106]
The design is shown in the attached picture. An equilateral triangle has sides that have equal measurements. On the other hand, a vertex is the terminal point of at least two line segments. Therefore, when you join three equilateral triangles sharing a common vertex, that simply means that they have a common point.

Tpy6a [65]

Answer:

4. $3.00...$2.73

Explanation:

Basic EPS = Net income/average number of shares outstanding

                 = 1500000/500000

                 = $3 per share

Diluted EPS = 1500000/(500000 + 50000)

                    = $2.73 per share

Therefore, Colt should report earnings per share for 2018:

Basic Earnings Per Share of $3

Diluted Earnings Per Share of $2.73

Star Corp. has a rate of return on assets of 10% and a debt/equity ratio of 2 to 1 before entering into an operating lease. Not
Fynjy0 [20]

Answer:

The return on assets and debt/equity ratio does not change

Explanation:

An operating lease does not affect assets and liabilities. From the formula:

Equity = Assets - Liabilities, since both assets and liabilities are not affected (they remain unchanged) therefore the equity is also the same.

The debt/ equity ratio = total liabilities/total equity. Since liabilities and equity remain unchanged, therefore The debt/ equity ratio is the same.

Also the return of assets (earnings/assets) remain the same
