Answer:

a,b,c,d

Explanation:

Variation (<u>changes in genetic composition of an organism due to mutation)</u>,in fitness makes an organism  to undergo natural selection or sexual selection. This is because such organisms are able to compete  and acquire effectively  the needed traits(gene) from parents,  natural resources in the environments,to be  fitted   to reproduce successfully(higher gene pool) and therefore well  populated to compete with other organisms in the same environment. Therefore they can  withstand selective pressures, and naturally selected than others.

Variation in genotype  of an organisms  brings about effective gene flow  which the organisms need  to possess  to adapt to changes in the selective pressures, and therefore to  able to compete for natural resources  than others, This makes these organisms to  be well fitted to adapt to the environment and therefore  naturally selected.

Variation in the environment, refers to changes in the selective pressure of the environment where the organisms are located. it is only organisms that are well fitted, of higher reproductive success,(gene pool)and and higher competition to  survive because of acquired traits  will be able to be naturally selected compare to others.

Variation of different phenotype caused by different genotype makes some organisms to be  positively or negatively susceptible to certain environmental pressures than others.  If this  is  negative; it  reduces their reproductive success, their population, and therefore competition for survival , thus their chances to be naturally selected compare to organism with positive   different phenotypic qualities for survival is low.<u> E.g a white rabbit  will be well spotted by a predator, compare to brown or agouti  because of the different phenotype from different genotype</u>

<u>Note; Natural selective is not a random process. rather it is natural process that occur due to changes in the environmental pressure. Only variation can be random</u>.

5) Why is mimicry a helpful adaptation?
kompoz [17]
Ok so answer for 5 would be
5) a mimicry could be a great fully helpful adaption because as an example, the butterfly’s that blend in with trees, or the butterfly’s that look like birds, can either scare away predators or they can blend in.

6) as an example, a blue tongue skink has a blue tongue which is very common in venomous animals. Whenever said skink is threatened, it puffs up, opens its mouth, and hisses. When most predators see the tongue, they assume it’s venomous/poisonous because of the bright color. Another example would be milk snakes who look like coral snakes to scare away predators

Biotechnology has allowed us to genetically modify corn with a gene that acts as a pesticide. What could be a possible environme
Sergio [31]
<span>Since a gene that acts as a pesticide is inserted into a corn, that corn is now safe from insects. This will happen because the corn will probably synthesise protein according to that inserted DNA sequence and that protein will serve as a repellent to the insects. However, the Red Queen's hypothesis in evolution explains that organisms must constantly adapt and evolve in order to survive. This refers to insects. If they could not eat genetically modified corn, they would extinct. So, they must adapt or evolve in order to survive. So, it is expected that insects that are resistant to this specific pesticide would develop through the time.</span>

On the Pacific island of Guam, large herbivorous bats called "flying foxes" commonly feed on cycad seeds, a potent source of neu
Bad White [126]

Flying foxes disperse the Cycad seeds if  the seed sometimes get swallowed whole.

Explanation:

  • Cycads are gymnosperms they do not have seeds enclosed in fruit. Therefore the bats are not attracted to cycad fruit.
  • If the bats were susceptible to neurotoxin then they must not have been the frequent feeders of cycad seeds. Biomagnification of neurotoxin in flying fox is a widely researched topic.
  • Beetles do not have an association with these bats thus the bats must not be assisting them as important pollinating agents.
