The Delhi sultanate refers to the various Muslim dynasties that ruled in India (1210–1526). Based in Delhi, the territory of the Delhi Sultanate was mainly confined to the northern part of India, though at its peak, it was in control of much of the Indian subcontinent.
Knowing the sultanate's territory was purely indian and that the Indian population is in its majority Hindu, it is fair to describe the Delhi sultanate as "Muslims ruling a Hindu majority".
