Monk’s Mound in Cahokia is an enormous earthwork very near to the Mississippi River. What do archaeologists believe it was used
Alex Ar [27]
Monks Mound is the largest prehistoric structure in the Americas and the largest pyramid north of Mesoamerica. It covers 16 acres with 4 platforms with ceremonial structure at the top. This makes it approximately the same size at its base as the Great Pyramid of Giza (13.1 acres / 5.3 hectares). Its base circumference is bigger than the Pyramid of the Sun at Teotihuacan. As a platform mound, the earthwork supported a wooden structure on the summit. It’s believed to have been a temple or chief’s residence. Since Mississippian society revolved around the mound network, archaeologists believe that the central, and largest mound would have belonged to a societal leader.

Why was is so difficult for U.S. troops to prevent supplies from reaching the viet cong
ElenaW [278]
Because the supplies were being given from the Russians which had a underground network (both literally and figuratively) that transported weapons through out the country were the US could not attack.
Also, the Ho Chi Min trail was located in Cambodia which the US did not AT FIRST want to attack, and so it gave almost a clear safe path for both the Russians and NVA to get guns into South Vietnamese. Then from there, they would be given to the Viet Cong (who were underground). And then the Viet Cong would either use them, or give them to South Vietnamese people who were North Vietnamese or Communist sympathizers.
