Answer:

Option a. The following statement best describes Marlow's point of view in the passage: He has no patience with the attitude that imperialism is about saving souls. He thinks the colonists are simply pursuing their own self-interests.

Explanation:

"Heart of darkness" is a novel written by Polish-British author Joseph Conrad that tells the story of Marlow, a sailor that takes a job with a Belgian trade company that sends him to Congo. During his trip Marlow discovers how the Company is forcing the native inhabitants of the region to work for them, under the pretext of "saving their souls". As the passage shows, Marlow not only has no patience for this attitude the company is taking with the African people, but also he decides to try to tell the native Africans how all of the Company's actions are purely done for an economical gain and nothing more.

Which statement would best serve as a claim for an argument?
Nat2105 [25]
Think about what a claim is. a claim is something that you state, even if you don't have proof. choice C is a fact, not a claim--it would be used as evidence to support a claim, but it doesn't serve as a claim itself.

i would say that B is the most appropriate claim to argue that people should be more nutritionally knowledgeable. choice D is almost a counterargument, in a sense, because it lists a flaw with food labels. choice A is a statement, but it can be proven with evidence--one could look at a food label to search for the listed items.
