Answer:

chemical =2

macro molecules = 3

in the mouth and by the pancreas = 3

starch = 3

Explanation:

Enzymes are part of the chemical digestion process. The function is to break down macro molecules. Amylase is a digestive enzyme secreted in the mouth and by the pancreas and is responsible for breaking down starch.

Enzymatic digestion comes under chemical digestion not mechanical. It is chewing, crushing and grinding of food (bolus) by teeth which comes under mechanical digestion. Digestion simply means break down of large & complex macro molecules into smaller & simpler ones. This breakdown is necessary because only smaller/simpler molecules can enter blood vessels. The digestion of food starts from the mouth itself and amylase which is secreted by pancreas is the first enzyme which acts on the starch (carbohydrate) component of food. By the action of amylase, starch which is a polysaccharide (complex bio molecule) is converted into simpler molecules like maltose which is a disaccharide.
