Mildred's life revolves around technology (which is even more important to her than Montag). This "society" is Bradbury's prediction of how technology will change the world. Also, books are illegal.
Some similar things are the dependence on technology and the crime system (Montag is a criminal at the end of the book, and he has to live in hiding.)
