just olya [345]

Answer:

Europe's climate and geography is actually very good for growing crops, and most of the continent is very fertile, except for a few areas in Northern and Southern Europe.

Europe conquered other lands mainly in order to extract resources that it could not obtain in the continent: gold, silver, and tropical cash crops.

This is false because Europe is a large peninsula that has a lot of gulfs, bays, inner seas, and peninsulas. This is why Europe has many ports, and many coastal cities, and why trade flourished relatively early in the European continent.

From the Middle East, agriculture spread to Europe in what is known as the Neolithic Revolution. From the Middle East, many trade networks also spread to Europe, specially from Egypt and Anatolia.

VladimirAG [237]

Answer:

Central government should be allowed to impose taxes.

Explanation:

It should be allowed to impose taxes, because, there are certain projects, that only a central government can efficiently oversee and fund. Example:

- army to fight foreign powers

- any projects that benefits the country as a whole AND at the same time, benefits some states more than others. Example: continental railroad benefits the whole country, BUT you have to say, that some states get more benefit than others.

Why does Adam Smith think that the government should stay out of economic affairs?
professor190 [17]
The government stays out of affairs and lets the market mange itself. In this vien, Adam Smith’s “invisible hand” is the idea that there is an invisible force or hand that drives and manages the economy. People who subscribe to this form of economic thought usually favor small government intervention...they think the market will take care of itself and doesn’t need government subsidies, regulation, etc.

How was Iberville able to find the mouth of the Mississippi River?
LuckyWell [14K]

Answer:

After the Treaty of Rijswijk (1697) temporarily settled the dispute between the English and the French over Hudson Bay, Iberville was commissioned to fortify the mouth of the Mississippi in order to secure the claim made on Louisiana by René-Robert Cavelier, sieur de La Salle. In January 1699 Iberville explored the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico, rediscovering the mouth of the Mississippi. Later he established a temporary fort, Fort Maurepas, on Biloxi Bay (now Ocean Springs, Miss.) and then sailed for France. The following year he returned and established a second fort, Fort La Boulaye, just below present-day New Orleans and in 1702 constructed a new post, Fort St. Louis, on the Mobile River. The success of these defense projects persuaded Louis XIV to begin colonizing Louisiana.
