The transcontinental railroad, the cotton gin, electricity and other inventions permanently changed society to a more complex society. The Industrial Revolution was a time when the manufacturing of goods moved from homes to large factories. Industrial revolution however brought about changes in culture as people moved from rural areas to the urban areas in order to work.

What sparked the beginning of Industrial Revolution was the steam engine, The steam engine was the energy behind the most advanced textile inventions, such as the spinning mule and the power loom. It symbolized the changes from human power in homes to a complex machine power in factories. Industrialization leads to an increase in population and the phenomenon of urbanization, as a growing number of people moved to urban centres in search of employment.
