A timeline is the best device to use when we are trying to understand the progression of several historical events in a particular era. A timeline displays events in chronological order (the order in which they happened). It usually looks like a long bar with dates paralleling it. A timeline will increase your understanding of the era by helping you visualize the most important events of the Revolutionary War.
