A catchphrase that is associated with James Otis is "Taxation without representation is tyranny". The importance of this speech in 1761 harmonized the rebellion against the British and is consider the even that led to a series of events which would eventually be the American Revolution. He was a rapid patriot who help set in motion, though through his words here and his actions in other context, what would be American Independence from the British.
