Answer:

Crossing over is the process by which genetic variations occur. The homologous chromosomes exchange segments of DNA which allow the genetic variations to occur. If crossing over did not occur then there would be reduced genetic variations. The offsprings will have each chromosome identical to either the male or the female chromosome. Hence, the phenomenon of crossing over and independent assortment both are very important to ensure the genetic variations.

The second phase of Mitosis is metaphase . In this phase the sister chromatids line up on the metraphase plate through a push an
Elina [12.6K]

Centrosomes, also called microtubule organizing systems, release the microtubules that arrange the chromosomes along the metaphase plate.

Near the Golgi, there are 9,0 microtubule multiplets that produce microtubules. In order to sustain a dynamic movement process and for the centralized organization of chromosomes along the meiosis, plate, these microtubules bind to the kinetochores of chromosomes utilizing dyneins and kinesins.

During metaphase, chromosomes are organized over the metaphase plate with the help of microtubules released from complexes on various cell surfaces. Microtubules are continuously destroyed and rebuilt in a dynamic process until chromosomes are centrally organized.

The collapse of fisheries is most noticeable among the smaller fish that are consumed by larger predatory fish, such as sharks a
kakasveta [241]

Answer:

The correct answer is: False.

Explanation:

  • A Fishery collapse can be defined as the condition in which the composition of different species of fishes forming a food chain or a food web and located in a marine or aquatic community undergoes a drastic alteration.
  • The alternation can be caused due to environmental or anthropological factors.
  • A fishery collapse usually affects the larger fish population like sharks and tuna as their commercial and economic demand is higher.
  • Excessive fishing cause the population of the large fishes to decline without affecting the small fish population.
  • This is because the small fishes do not have high economic or commercial demand, hence they have very less probability of being angled or captured.

How might a gene mutation be silent, with no observable effect on a cell or an organism? A. Codons are complementary to anticodo
steposvetlana [31]

Answer:

D. Many amino acids are encoded by multiple codons. A gene mutation that encodes the same amino acid would have no observable effect on the cell or the organism

Explanation:

If gene mutation does not change code (gene still encodes for the same amino acid), the same protein with its function will be produced. This is called synonymous mutation.

Silent mutations might also occur when  codon is altered to produce an amino acid with similar function as previous (e.g. leucine to isoleucine) so that the function of protein is not significantly changed.
