The response was known as the Intolerable Acts.
Among these were:

The Boston Port Act shut down the Boston Harbor until the tea was paid for.

The Administration of Justice Act protected British officers by allowing them to be tried back in England for crimes committed in the colonies.

The Massachusetts government act which dissolved the existing charter and assigned appointed a governor, appointed by the King, to rule the colony as a viceroy.

* Rebellion is a uprising against those in authority. At the minimum it may be passive resistance (failure to comply with orders). At worst it can be a bloody revolution.

* Propaganda = news and information slanted towards a biased viewpoint.

* Committees of Correspondence were networks of individuals committed to liberating the colonies from British rule. They were involved in espionage, planned responses and shared intelligence. Many became community leaders as they disseminated information for action throughout the colonies. The modern day Tea Party is a similar movement.
