To multiply mix numbers and a normal fractions you make the mix number into a improper fraction. To do that you multiply the bottom and add the top. Here are the answers:
1/2 x 5 1/2 = 2 3/4
3 3/4 x 1/2 = 1 7/8
1/2 x 3 1/3 = 1 1/6
3/4 x 3 1/6 = 3 1/8
2/1 x 1 1/7 = 2 2/3

The angle of elevation of the sun is 24°. What is the length of the shadow cast by a person 1.82 m tall?
amm1812

Answer:

4.09 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the length of the shadow cast by a person be x m.

\tan \: 24 \degree =  \frac{height \: of \: person}{length \: of \: the \: shadow}  \\  \\ 0.4452286853 =  \frac{1.82}{x}  \\  \\ x =  \frac{1.82}{0.4452286853}  \\  \\ x = 4.08778693 \: m \\ x = 4.09 \: m

A bacteria culture has 2,000 bacteria. The number of bacteria increases by 5% each hour. How many bacteria are there after 12 ho
ivann1987 [24]
Suppose the number of bacteria are increasing exponentially, We can model the number of bacteria at a given time t, using the formula:
f(t)=ae(tk)
where, k=constant of proportionally and a=initial number;
thus;
f(t)=2000e(0.005t)
Therefore the population after 12 hours will be:
f(12)=2000e^(0.005*12)
f(12)=2,123.67=2,123 bacteria

Which of the points A(−6, 2), B(0, 0), C(4, −2), D(−12, 6), E(−10, 10) belong to the graph of direct variation y=− 1 2 x?
vovangra [49]

ANSWER

B(0, 0),

EXPLANATION

The given points are A(−6, 2), B(0, 0), C(4, −2), D(−12, 6), E(−10, 10).

The equation of the direction variation is

y =  - 12x

The point that belongs the graph of the direct variation must satisfy the variation equation.

Note that the graph of direct variation equation passes through the origin therefore the point (0,0) satisfies it.

0=-12(0)

0=0

This is true

The other points do not satisfy this variation equation, hence they do not lie on its graph

What is greater than 40 but less than 20
Paladinen [302]
I've already been complemented twice on my previous answer, but then I discovered that I mis-read the question.  My entire original answer was wrong, and I have to delete it.

I don't believe that any number can satisfy both of those conditions.
I'll say the question has no answer.

What will be the cost for 8 hours of work? 10 hours of work?
andreyandreev [35.5K]

Answer:

<u>Cost = 25 + 50h</u>

cost for 8 hours of work = $425

cost for 10 hours of work = $525

Step-by-step explanation:

The question is as following:

A plumber charges $25 for a service call plus $50 per hour of service write an equation to represent the cost of hiring this plumber.

what will be the cost for 8 hours of work? 10 hours of work?

=======================================================

A plumber charges $25 for a service call plus $50 per hour

<u>Cost = 25 + 50h</u>

Where h is the number of hours of service

8 hours of work: h = 8

Substitute with h = 8 at the equation of cost

<u>Cost = 25 + 50* 8 = $425</u>

10 hours of work: h = 10

Substitute with h = 10 at the equation of cost

<u>Cost = 25 + 50 * 10  = $525</u>
