I don't watch anime, but maybe try one of the really mainstream shows? something like that will have allot of great references to look at while you draw, so if you pick a popular show you will be able to get more information for drawing. I know I wasn't much help, sorry for taking your points :/

Well art is a way to express your self so if people are critiques about it then they may not understand it. So if I were in there shoes I'd feel kinda wouldn't care because it's my artwork about my emotions :) hope I helped ya
