Why are there three lines in each stanza? What could be the purpose of the poet in writing three lines per stanza? (Islands and
Flura [38]

Answer and Explanation:

"Islands and Icebergs" by Ralph Semino Galan is a poem about reading a poem. The speaker asks readers to imagine the paper as being the ocean and the words to be floating on the that ocean. That is a clue as to why he writes three lines per stanza. The length of the lines, along with their number, reminds us of the waves, even the foam, to floats up and down, back and forth, on the ocean. The author wrote three lines per stanza as a way to make the poem itself resemble an ocean, instead of simply asking as to imagine it.

Wittaler [7]

Answer:

She explains to him that he has an upper hand in the situation (knowing that Jack was saying bad things about him). She then tells him that if he refuses to go back to school on his own, she'll tell their parents who will tell the school principle and that everyone will start treating him like a freak that needs to go to a special needs school. That is ultimately what makes up his mind to go back.
