<u>Explanation</u>:

Throughout history, the concept of reincarnation has permeated the ancient philosophies of the East. The idea first appeared in India in form of “Upanishads”, which can be defined as philosophical and religious texts composed in Sanskrit.

Billions of people have embraced these beliefs as central in Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Shintoism and other faiths. The reincarnation idea was also discussed by a few Ancient Greek philosophers such as Socrates, Pythagoras, and Plato that made sure to include this concept as an essential part of their teachings and some in their major works.  

Many Gnostics groups such Sethians and followers of Valentinus believed in reincarnation as a negative concept, thinking of the material body as evil. In addition, belief in reincarnation was common among the Vikings.
