The correct answer is D. Listen as reactively as possible

Explanation:

Effective listening is the process of listening actively to a speech or presentation in order to understand all the information properly. This process is also linked to being able to provide feedback to the speaker and showing your interest in the topic and ideas expressed by the speaker. Because fo this, in order or becoming a more effective listener it is a good idea to take notes or write down the most important points as this helps you to remember and understand the speech, ask questions to clarify or discuss ideas, anticipate ideas before the speech begins, following to the ideas of the speaker properly by identifying main points and listening attentively rather than reactively.

In the case of attentive listening, it refers to completely concentrating in the speaker's words to understand rather than appearing to be listening and just reacting at the end of ideas or at the end of the speech (reactive listening). Thus, it can be concluded to become a more effective listening you should do all the previous ideas except listen as reactively as possible, because in this type of listening you are not focused on the words of the speaker but just listen to some part of them and only respond when being asked or at the end of some idea which is completely opposite to effective listening.

2) Examine each of the following topics. Determine if the topic is too broad, too narrow, or appropriate for the research essay.
fenix001 [56]

 1. The history of manned space flight: The topic is appropriate for research because it is specific and will find almost the same information in every source you consult.
 2. Breeds of dogs in the Westminster Dog Show: The topic is too narrow which might make the research a little empty (with not too much information).
 3. The history of domestic animals (house pets): The topic is too broad and the research might not be focused but too general.
 4. The results of Project Genome: The topic is appropriate for research because it is relevant and specific
 5. The formation of cumulonimbus clouds: The topic is too narrow and might make the research empty/flat and lacking in relevance
 6. The results of the Battle of Gettysburg: The topic is appropriate for research because it is historically relevant.

EXTRA INFO:

When you start developing a specific topic, the main problem you may face is having a topic that is too narrow or too broad.

Your topic is too narrow when you find very little information about it

Your topic is too broad when you find too many sources or too much information that it might not even be focused but too general.

And when your topic is appropriate it is when you find the important and needed information or you could also narrow a topic that is too broad.

Hope this answer helps you! Have a great day.
