System software is the low-level software that controls the internal operations of a computer and devices attached with the computer. It create link between user and computer as well as controls the execution of application programs. System software are essential for a computer to do work, without the software no link can be created between user and computer. It is the software which translate input from various sources into a language which machine can understand.

It helps in running the computer hardware. System software is a collection of operating system; device, driver, server, Windows system and utilities. System software helps in extracting the internal complexities of a computer from the user.
