How do I solve 4 5/8 + 1 3/4

$4 \frac{5}{8} +1 \frac{3}{4}$
Put aside the whole numbers
$\frac{5}{8} + \frac{3}{4}$
You need to have a common denominator(bottom)
$\frac{3}{4}$×$\frac{2}{2}$=$\frac{6}{8}$
So $\frac{5}{8}$+$\frac{6}{8}$=$\frac{11}{8}$
You then divide the numerator by the denominator
11÷8=1$\frac{3}{8}$
Add that to the original whole numbers
$1 \frac{3}{8} +4+1=6 \frac{3}{8}$
There is another way to do this but I decided to do it this way.
