The omission of the anti-slavery passage by Thomas Jefferson is one of the most controversial omissions. This 168-word passage condemned slavery but was omitted out of the final version of the Declaration of Independence.

In the omitted passage, Jefferson stated that King George had waged a war against human nature while violating the sacred rights of liberty and life of the people who had never, in any way, offended him.

He captivated and carried them to the other hemisphere to bring them to slavery and incurred miserable death while their transportation.The reason behind the removal of the passage was the financial gains. The southern plantation was the key to the colonial economy. The slavery provided them with free labor.
