I don't think this question has one absolute answer: it will depend on the kind of job, the number of applicants and the kind of the mistake.

But if the job is very competitive, and if the position requires perfection, then it is true that one error can eliminate the applicant: so the statement that it might is correct.

The research shows that women who work  outside the home have LOWER rates of depression than those who do not, even when we control for other factors, like pre-existing health problems that might make some women less likely to work. Someone needs a better fact checker or copy-editor!
