Answer:

A mutation is a change in a DNA sequence. Mutations are commonly caused by mistakes during DNA replication. However, they can also be caused by ultraviolet radiation, exposure to chemicals called mutagens, and infection by viruses. But, a mutation usually occurs when a nucleotide in the DNA gets changed, causing the nucleotide sequence to be copied incorrectly which leads to the wrong code for a protein. This can sometimes be fatal.

Hope that helps.

Describe the evidence that suggests that mitochondria were acquired before plastids in eukaryotic evolution.
8090 [49]

Answer:

Mitochodaria is present in majority of cells and plastid is present only in in few.

Explanation:

Endosymbiosis theory explain that mitochondria and plastids arose from bacteria through engulfing by larger cells because mitochondria and plastids contain different DNA than cell nuclei.

Mitochondria were acquired before than plastids because mitochondria is present in majority of eukaryotic cell and some cell have plastids with mitochondria. This explain that after the endosymbiosis of mitochondria some cells did endosymbiosis with photosynthetic bacteria to acquire plastid.

vivado [14]
I would say that Melissa has made the mistake of using the same uncleaned cutting board first for cutting up chicken which is notorious for forming bacteria quickly when out of the fridge and then chopping vegetables on it thus running the possibility of contaminating the vegetables with chicken bacteria. She should ensure she washes the cutting board carefully with soap and water to avoid contamination of the vegetables.
