Why are proteins so important? What are some of the things that they do?
Oliga [24]
Protein is required for the growth and maintenance of tissues.
Enzymes are proteins that allow chemical reactions to take place within your body.
Amino acid chains of various lengths form protein and peptides which make up several of your body’s hormones and transmit information between your cells, tissues and organs.
A class is proteins known as fibrous proteins provide various parts of your body with structure, strength and elasticity.
Proteins act as a buffer system, helping your body maintain proper pH values of the blood and other bodily fluids.
Proteins in your blood maintain the fluid balance between your blood and the surrounding tissues.
Proteins form antibodies to protect your body from foreign invaders, such as disease-causing bacteria and viruses.
Hope this helps :)

Does all dna code for protein?
irina [24]

Answer:

Only about 5% of human DNA encodes protein.

Explanation:

Arrayed along the DNA strand are the genes, specific regions whose sequences carry the genetic code for making specific proteins. The genes of bacteria are tightly packed together; virtually all the DNA encodes proteins.

Which of the following is a true statement about tectonic plates?
Nataly [62]
I would go with D as it is closest to correct. Every part of the surface of the Earth is a tectonic plate though. The plates vary in thickness, but all of the surface of the Earth is made up of tectonic plates, including the parts under the ocean. Technically, the Earth's landmass does not rest on the tectonic plates, it IS the tectonic plates, but it is the closest to correct here in my opinion.
