The theory of evolution is accepted almost universally in the current Western world as an explanation of the origin of life. Pretending the support of a variety of sciences, those who urge the pretensions of evolution, declare that this question is "as scientifically demonstrated as the events never observed by man can be."

Nevertheless, there are scientists from various disciplines who maintain that many aspects of the theory of evolution violate the canons of rigorous science. They recognize that the mechanisms by which it is said that the evolution of life and of biological species took place are, at best, unproven hypotheses, and at worst, contradictions of experimental facts.
