In my opinion the most important factor which was motivation the European Imperialism that began around the 1750 was economic growth. Europeans around this time were seeking formal political control over foreign and overseas areas in order to take advantage of the industrial revolution boasting their trade markets abroad. They had the ideal that more land equaled power.
