In this lines, Fuller states that the need to grow is not a "woman" need but a "human" need. She states that humans needs that are similar to this one include the right to use their intellects, the need for the soul to be free and the liberty to use all abilities and skills they possess.

This was a view that would have been accepted by most feminist authors at the time. These authors would most likely have argued that women need these rights to grow and develop. However, authors who were not feminist would have disagreed with it, as they would have been more comfortable with more traditional gender roles.

I think that most women in this day and age would agree with this. If I am understanding Fuller's statement correctly, he is saying that women should not live by their given roles/purposes, but with full freedom to live how they like with all of their ability and power. As more and more women are fighting for gender equality in this world, I think Fuller's statement is widely accepted

at this time

However, the opinions of women back in Fuller's time might not. While some women in that time certainly wanted more freedom and equality, many thought that they themselves were supposed to be no more than simple housewives.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas.

Good luck!
