East Germany, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Yugoslavia resisted Soviet control despite being a communist  nation

Explanation:

  • Khrushchev's policy of "coexistence" with the West did not mean that he was willing to recognize the peace settlement in Germany.
  • he was determined to change it in favor of the Soviet Union and its East German satellite
  • The Western powers refused the plan because the abolition of the U.S. "nuclear umbrella" would not leave NATO forces.
  • both the Soviet and East German governments still continued to achieve the goal of a united, Germany under communist control.
  • there was also a significant increase in academic and cultural contacts with the West.

In what way did Mahan's thesis in The Influence of Sea Power Upon History support the idea of Manifest Destiny?
dybincka [34]
It was a United States naval officer/ historian, also known to be a propagandist to expansion, named Alfred Thayer Mahan who wanted to expand the extent of capacity of the United States and its navy. He wrote “The Influence of Sea Power upon History”. It stated his idea that the countries with the biggest navies and greater sea power over others who could govern the world. With his principles, and knowing that US had at that time the elements of the capability to expand its greatness, he created strategies based on commerce trading and coastal defense to support the Manifest Destiny. Manifest Destiny states that it is the United States who was the ones who were destined to expand across North America.

Lilit [14]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

The question is incomplete. Indeed, here we do not have a question, just a statement. After the statement, the full question must say:<em> "Decide if the situation jeopardizes the government's legitimacy."</em>

What is the situation? The statement above-mentioned.

So the situation is this:

Three top military generals overthrow the country's government. The generals are very popular with the citizens, who cheer by the thousands in streets across the country.

Under this situation, the legitimacy is not jeopardized because it was the people who supported the generals to overthrow the country's government. So we can say that the generals are legit because they received the support of the people and that is why they succeeded. The people believe in them.

Let's remember that in politics, the concept of legitimacy means that the people think that their ruler is the right one, the capable one, and has the support of the citizens.

The other three important concepts of a solid government are Power, Authority, and Sovereignty.
