avanturin [10]

Answer: Tone

Explanation: In writing, the tone is an important literary technique. The main purpose of the tone is for the author to express their attitude towards the subject their writing about. However, the tone doesn't have to be the same throughout and entire literary work. In some cases, there are many different tones that appear. Author's can create a tone in a variety of ways but one popular way is diction. This is the choice of words that he or she uses.

nlexa [21]

Answer:

You have not offered any choices, so therefore, I will elaborate on what you have written.

Based on the idea that he was picking teams means something in the hierarchy of recess. I am guessing that he is in about the 5th or 6th grade, and would be embarrassed if he chose a girl first instead of his friends. At this age and at this stage in his development, having boys on his team is much more important than having a girl. Would this mean that he likes her? Does he just want her for her talent of being the best batter? His relationships with his peers that are boys are much more important to him at this time of his life. I perceive that when he did pick a couple of boys, they agreed TOGETHER that they should get the best batter. This way it was in the best efforts of the TEAM and not that a boy was picking a girl.

Select the correct text(s) in the passage.
Which two excerpts serve to entertain the reader?
mixas84 [53]
Excerpt 1
I lay in bed, quivering underneath my blankets, staring up at the ceiling above me. I heard the pattering of feet, like a small child running on tiptoe. I turned onto my side and closed my eyes. Something was in the attic.

"It's just my imagination," I said quietly.

Scenes from earlier that day played like a movie in my mind. I saw my family's car turning off the highway. I watched as our car turned onto a winding road. The sky was cloudy, and the wind rustled through the Spanish moss hanging from the cypress trees. We drove into the darkness of the trees' shadows.

Excerpt 4
Jeremy raced to the beach and scrambled up onto a log. He pretended it was a spaceship. "Vroom! Roar!" The spaceship blasted off. Jeremy pretended he was soaring through space, searching for flying saucers.

That's when he noticed a small black head poking up from the water. Its two beady eyes stared at him. This creature was definitely not pretend. "Yikes, a space alien!" he screamed, leaping off the log. He dashed for the cabin and burst into the kitchen.
