I'm pretty sure that would be to remove Union pressure from Virginia. Virginia was being destroyed by the Civil War and Lee, who was only fighting for the Confederacy because of his home state, which was Virginia. Because of this, he invaded Union territory to move the fighting to Union territory to protect Virginia. Hope this helps!

Answer:

There were many new opportunities in western united states in the 1800s. There was a gold rush in California and many traveled there seeking profit from selling gold. There was also a lot of unclaimed land that farmers wanted to claim. New territories needed new governments as more people were moving west. Many also moved to the west for railroad work. This is why many people moved to the American west.

What are the implications of a society that focuses on maximizing pleasure and minimizing pain?
Phantasy [73]

This is a question that refers to philosophical utilitarianism.

It is the search for the maximum happiness and pleasure, with the least possible suffering, but with an implicit moral question. When we are led to the feeling of pain or pleasure, we determine the way forward and know what is right or wrong.

In this way, it is possible that we are facing a moral dilemma. In our quest for happiness or minimizing our pain, our actions can impact others. That is, utilitarianism is essentially a teleological and consequentialist theory. Therefore, we must seek the impartial maximization of the happiness of all affected by our attitudes, regardless of the affective ties.

vazorg [7]

A patient complains of fever, severe muscle and joint pain, and a rash. the patient reports returning from a Caribbean vacation one week ago. With this information we could suspect dengue.

Dengue fever is a viral disease spread to people by infected mosquito bites. Dengue fever is found throughout the tropics, with local differences in risk determined by climate, socioeconomic, and environmental factors.

High fever, headache, rash, and muscular and joint pain are all symptoms. In severe situations, there is considerable bleeding and shock, which can be fatal.

In some Asian and Caribbean nations, severe dengue is a primary cause of serious disease and death. It necessitates the supervision of medical personnel.

Which of these contains word choices suggesting a bias? A) "...Our fathers brought forth upon this continent a new nation..." B)
Nastasia [14]

The correct answer is C.

A bias is a <em>prejudice</em> against a person, group of people, a fact or an idea which tends to be considered unfair.

<em>" The world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here..." </em>- this sentence is carrying a biased vision of the reception of these words.  It implies that the world will not care about the words spoken here, nor will they be remembered for long. The bias here is a mere assumption and not a real fact,  it puts a negative impact on the statement and it jumps too quickly to a unfair conclusion.
