Answer:

m=-\frac{3}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

The given equation is

\frac{m}{m+1}+\frac{5}{m-1}=1

The Least Common Denominator is (m-1)(m+1).

We multiply through by the LCD to get;

(m-1)(m+1)\times \frac{m}{m+1}+(m-1)(m+1)\times\frac{5}{m-1}=(m-1)(m+1)\times1

Simplify

(m-1)\times \frac{m}{1}+(1)(m+1)\times\frac{5}{1}=(m-1)(m+1)\times1

m(m-1)+5(m+1)=(m-1)(m+1)

Expand;(Use difference of two squares on the right hand side)

m^2-m+5m+5=m^2-1

Group similar terms;

m^2-m^2-m+5m=-1-5

Simplify;

4m=-6

Divide through by 4.

m=\frac{-6}{4}

m=-\frac{3}{2}

We can solve this problem using the binomial distribution. A binomial distribution<span> can be thought of as a success or failure outcome in an experiment or survey that is repeated multiple times.
</span>Probability function of binomial distribution has the following form:
P= \frac{n!}{k!(n-k)!} p^k(1-p)^{n-k}
p represents the probability of each choice we want. k is the number of choices we want and n is the total number of choices.
In our case p=0.85, k=5 and n=6.
We can now calculate the answer:
P= \frac{6!}{5!(6-5)!} 0.85^5(1-0.85)^{6-5}=0.39
The probability is 39%.

Line b passes through points (9, 1) and (1, 6). Line c passes through points (10, 7) and (2, 12). Are line b and line c parallel
andre [41]
<h2>Answer:  Lines b & c are parallel.⇄</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

  • When lines are perpendicular, the product of their slope is -1 (the slopes are negative reciprocal).
  • When lines are parallel, they have the same slope.

Slope = ( y₂ - y₁) / (x₂ - x₁)

Slope of Line b = ( 6 - 1 ) ÷ ( 1 - 9 )

                         =  5  ÷  (- 8)

                         =   - ⁵/₈

Slope of Line c =  ( 12 - 7 )  ÷  ( 2 - 10 )

                         =  - ⁵/₈

⇒ Line b ║ Line c
