 The formula to find a hypotenuse is as follows:
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
Write out your triangle, labeling one part as 18, and another as 80. Connect a line between the end points of each line, and give a letter to a value. For my example, I will use 18 as a and 80 as b.
18^2 + 80^2 = c^2
Solve this by squaring these numbers.
324 + 6400 = c^2
Add these numbers
6724 = c^2
 Then, finally, deprive the square root from 6724 and c^2
82 = c
 Since c is you hypotenuse, 82 centimeters is your answer. This checks out because your hypotenuse must be the largest number of the three, and if not, you did something wrong. However, this all checks out, meaning your hypotenuse is 82 centimeters. Hope this helped!

a^2 + b^2 = c^2\\\\18^2 + 80^2 = c^2\\\\6724 = c^2\\\\c = \sqrt{6724}\\\\ c = 82

The hypotenuse is 82 centimeters long.

Find the distance between the points (-16,-17) and (7,-17).
gladu [14]

Answer:

23 units

Step-by-step explanation:

Calculate the distance (d)  using the distance formula

d = √ (x₂ - x₁ )² + (y₂ - y₁ )²

with (x₁, y₁ ) = (- 16, - 17) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (7, - 17)

d = \sqrt{(7+16)^2+(-17+17)^2}

  = \sqrt{23^2+0^2}

  = \sqrt{23^2}

= 23

What is 51/2 × 21/3? <br><br> A. 132/5<br> B. 131/6<br> C. 127/8<br> D. 125/6
IRINA_888 [86]
In multiplying fractions, you multiply the numerators and denominators.
51 / 2 * 21 / 3
can be reduced as

(17 / 2) * (21 / 1)
357 / 2 --> This is the answer based on the given.

Assume that its a mixed fraction:
5 1/2 * 2 1/3
11/2 * 7/3
= 77 /6
