Answer:

The solution is obtained by dividing the number of flowers by the number of vases.

Step-by-step explanation:

The story problem is very straightforward. Normally, you need to read the problem and understand it.

Let's look at the question again.

Although we do not have all the quantities, we can still show how to solve the problem.

Let x be the total  number of flowers.

There are 4 vases.

Therefore, the number of flowers in each vase will be:

x/4

Flow the same rule for similar problems.

How do you do this simultaneous equation?
tatiyna
The y is the same for both equations. Equate them
-x - 5 = 2x + 4 Add x to both sides
- 5 = 3x + 4 Subtract 4 from both sides.
- 9 = 3x Divide by 3
x = -9 / 3
x = - 3

y = - x - 5
y = -(-3) - 5
y = - 2

So that point is where the two equations meet.

To see the graph of your question on the internet, go to
Wolframalpha.com
and put this string in the question space.
y = -x - 5; y  = 2x + 4  Note the semi colon in the middle.

To the moderator: This is my own work. I'm using Wolfram to get the answer.

Papessa [141]

Ok i) The equation for a slope is y= mx + c where m is the gradient and c the y-intercept. Ok so the gradient is the y rise / x run. You have selected -2 to 4. The rise is -2 and the run is 4. -2 / 4 = -0.5. So y = -0.5x - 2

ii) (0, -2)

iii) I think this one number i). Ill do i) here, -0.5

Evaluate the variable expression x + y for the given values of x and y . X=43.37 ; Y=18.24
cupoosta [38]

Answer:

61.61

Step-by-step explanation:

In the expression now that we know the value of x and y, we can replace it with its values. So it would look like this.... 43.37 + 18.24. This equals 61.61.

Hope this helps!
