Circle 1, circle 2, and circle 3 have the same center and have radii, respectively, of r1 cm, r2 cm, r3 cm, where r1 < r2 &lt

; r3. Let a1 be the area of circle 1, let a2 be the area of the region within circle 2 and outside circle 1, and let a3 be the area of the region within circle 3 and outside circle 2, where all areas are in cm2. What are the values of \small \frac{a_{1}}{a_{2}} and \small \frac{a_{2}}{a_{3}} ?

The first area is simply the are of the innermost circle, so we have

A_1 = \pi r_1^2

Then, the region inside circle 2 and outside circle 1 is the difference between the areas of these circles:

A_2 = \pi r_2^2 - \pi r_1^2 = \pi(r_2^2-r_1^2)

By the same logic, we have

A_3 = \pi r_3^2 - \pi r_2^2 = \pi(r_3^2-r_2^2)

So, the ratios are

\dfrac{A_1}{A_2} = \dfrac{\pi r_1^2}{\pi(r_2^2-r_1^2)} = \dfrac{r_1^2}{r_2^2-r_1^2}

And similarly

\dfrac{A_2}{A_3} = \dfrac{\pi(r_2^2-r_1^2)}{\pi(r_3^2-r_2^2)} = \dfrac{r_2^2-r_1^2}{r_3^2-r_2^2}

A maple syrup producer would like to increase production by 500 gallons per each consecutive year with a goal of producing at le
ipn [44]

Answer:

b) x ≥ 3000 gallons

Step-by-step explanation:

Part a)

Production of Year 1 = x gallons

By each year the producer will increase the production by 500 gallons. So,

Production in Year 2 = x + 500 gallons

Similarly,

Production in Year 3 = x + 500 + 500 = x + 1000 gallons

Production in Year 4 = x + 1000 + 500 = x + 1500 gallons

Production in Year 5 = x + 1500 + 500 = x + 2000 gallons

Part b)

The maple syrup producer wants to produced atleast 20,000 gallons in 5 years.

Total amount produced in 5 years = x + x + 500 + x + 1000 + x + 1500 + x + 2000

Total amount produced in 5 years = 5x + 5000

Since, producer wants total production to be atleast 20,000, we can set up the inequality as:

5x + 5000 ≥ 20000

Subtracting 5000 from both sides, we get:

5x ≥ 15000

Dividing both sides by 5, we get:

x ≥ 3000

This means, in the first year the production of maple syrup must be atleast 3,000 gallons i.e 3000 gallons or more to have a total of atleast 20,000 gallons in 5 years.

Which graph has the same end behavior as the graph of f(x) = –3x^3 – x^2 + 1?
ololo11 [35]
To find out end behavior, we always look at the largest exponent (3 in this case) and the sign of the term with the largest exponent (negative in this case). We can rule out the first two choices because since it is a cubic graph (exponent of 3) the graph will be pointing in opposite directions. Then, the negative tells us that as the x values approache infinity, the y values will approach negative infinity. So the correct answer is the last choice.

Hope this helps

Tashia ate 1/3 of a pizza, and Jay ate 3/8 of the same pizza. What fraction of the pizza was eaten?
Sauron [17]
This is basically saying how much of the pizza did Tashia and Jay both ate, thus combining their portions together.

1/3 + 3/8 = fraction of pizza eaten

To add fractions, you must have a common denominator. Which is 24 in this case because 3*8 = 24.

So you multiply 1/3 with 8 and multiply 3/8 with 3.

1/3*8= 8/24
3/8*3= 9/24

Now you add the fractions.
8/24+9/24= 17/24. You add the numerator, the denominator stays the same.

17/24 of the pizza was eaten.
