I believe that the first 9 (90) is 100 times greater than the second 9 (9000). If you multiply 90 by 10, it will get 900, which is not enough!

Answer: No, the  9,290 is the value of the first 9 hundred times as great as the value of the second 9.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given number : 9,290

We can see that the first 9 has the place value = 9000 or 9 thousand

The second 9 has the place value = 90 or 9 tens

The number of times the value of the first 9 as great as the value of the second 9 will be :-

\dfrac{9000}{90}=100

Hence, the  9,290 is the value of the first 9 hundred times as great as the value of the second 9.

Michelle has read 0.05625 percent of a book. If she has read 18 pages, how many total pages are in the book?
faust18 [17]
You read 2/5 of the remainder on Sunday. That means 3/5 of the remainder are unread (1- 2/5). It is given that 36 pages are unread. Therefore 3/5 of the remainder is equal to 36. Set up equation and solve for x which will be the remainder

3/5x=36
x=36(5/3)
x=60
