In the Odyssey, the traits that Odysseus has that allow him to triumph in the bow and arrow challenge that Penelope sets for her suitors are his archery skills and intelligence.
Odysseus has always been known as an excellent archer, which is exactly why Penelope had this type of competition in the first place. It was quite easy for him to be better than the remaining competitors due to his skills and his brains.

Compare and contrast oscar wilde's point of view from ernest's point of view of victorian society
leva [86]

Oscar Wilde mocks the Victorian society, he thinks the society is pretentious, full of self-importance, ignorance, and idleness. He thinks that upper-class Victorian society has some ideas that are nonsensical.

His character Ernest/Jack leads a double life, he was discovered as a baby in a handbag in the cloakroom of Victoria Station. He was adopted and leads a double life because he portrays himself as a major landowner and a number of servants that hide his poor past. He creates a false brother that is an irresponsible black-sheep, so he can lead a scandalous life without getting in trouble.

Jack has a respect for all these Victorian rules and societies social rules - such as marriage and the money that comes with it - even though he knows they are false the same way he is. He pretends to disapprove his own behaviors as a way to portray a right and just character to the Victorian society.

The Stanford community is deeply curious and driven to learn in and out of the classroom. Reflect on an idea or experience that
Hoochie [10]

This is a very personal question. Therefore, no one can answer it except for you. However, I can provide an example of something that makes me excited about learning, and this can serve as a guide for your own answer.

One experience that makes me genuinely excited about learning is hearing about other people's success stories. For example, when authors, scientists, astronauts and other talented and knowledgeable people talk about their careers, I am often inspired by their stories. Most of the time, these stories relate to their knowledge, and the importance of knowledge in encouraging personal growth. This makes me genuinely excited about learning because it encourages me to think that I too can achieve the things these people have achieved.

How does "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" break away from traditional poetic conventions? Select all that apply.
Mama L [17]

Answer:

It distorts the traditional concept of a love song.

It emphasizes the search for meaning in a seemingly meaningless world.

Explanation:

"The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" is an extremely sentimental and striking poem, besides being melancholy and sad, causing great reflections in the reader, about what it is to be loved, what it is to have hope and what it is to feel empty and alone.

The poem features a speaker who longs to establish a romantic affair with someone, but has all his attempts unsuccessful. This speaker does not want to abandon this desire, but his hopes are completely empty, making him feel melancholy and try desperately to seek some connection, some meaning in the world that is as empty as he is. This destabilizes the concept of a love song as something happy and comfortable, as the poem shows a visceral and uncomfortable version of a love song in the life of someone hopeless about love, but very much wants to feel it.
