Answer:

Option A. 1

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

A perfect square trinomial is equal to

(x+a)^{2}=x^{2}+2xa+a^{2}

In this problem we have

x^{2}+2x

equate the equations and solve for a

x^{2}+2x=x^{2}+2xa+a^{2}

so

2x=2xa

a=1

therefore

the perfect square trinomial is equal to (x+1)^{2}

x^2 - x/5 + 2 = 0

Subtract 2 from both sides.

x^2 - x/5 = -2

Multiply all terms by 5.

5x^2 - x = -10

Add 10 to both sides.

5x^2 - x + 10 = 0

We can now apply the quadratic formula:

-b ± \frac{\sqrt{b^2 - 4ac} }{2a}

1 ± (√ 1 - 200) / 10

1 ± √-199 / 10

1 ± i√199 / 10

Can someone please help ?

There are many ways to solve this. I think the easiest way for this one is to add the equations up.

\:  \:  \:  \:  \: -5x+ 2y = 6 \\  +  \: \:   \: 10x    - 2y =  - 16 \\  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  -  \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: 5x =  - 10
The you solve that, now that y is gone. You get x=2.

Now plug in x into one of the original equations.

- 5(2)  + 2y = 6 \\  - 10 + 2y = 6
Finish solving, and you get y=8.

The answer is (2,8)

a)

(59, 76) and (65, 100)

y - y1 = m(x - x1)

y - 100 = (100-76)/(65 - 59)(x - 65)

y - 100 = (24/6)(x - 65)

y - 100 = 4(x - 65)

y - 100 = 4x - 260

y = 4x - 160

b)

x = 90

y = 4x - 160

y = 4(90) - 160

y = 360 - 160

y = 200

200 chirps per minute

c)

y = 120

y = 4x - 160

120 = 4x - 160

280 = 4x

x = 70

70 degrees
