According to opponent-process theory, habituation may have been the basis of Kurt’s dangerous addiction.

Explanation:

The opponent process theory was proposed by Richard Solomon in 1974. The theory states that repeated stimulation causes the opposing emotion to be stronger.

Consumption of drugs regularly induces habituation and tolerance to effects of drugs. It is evident that reported exposure to stimulus may sometimes lead to ignorance of that stimulus.

It is known from the above scenario, that Kurt is addicted to heroin. Kurt’s consume more and more of heroin, as he is not satisfied with the initial dose. His activity shows that habituation led him to the dangerous addiction of drugs.
