James Cook was born in Yorkshire in 1728 to a farm labourer. He sailed for several years in the North Sea, Irish Sea, Baltic Sea. He volunteered many services with which he as appointed as an able seaman. He also worked as rank master, surveyor.

In 1969, he was promoted as a rank of Lieutenant and was instructed to sail to Tahiti to observe the transit of Venus in 1969. This expedition was to ascertain whether there is an existence in the Southern latitudes of the Pacific Ocean.
