The rocks that are deposited in this region are basaltic in nature and they are denser in nature. The magma coming out to the bottom of the ocean surface along this mid-oceanic ridge immediately cools and solidifies forming an igneous rock called basalt.

Whereas, the high mountain ranges are formed from the collision of two continental plates. The continents are comprised of all types of of rocks, and continuous weathering, erosion, sedimentation, and compaction takes place. In addition to that, these rocks also undergo extreme pressure and temperature condition due to their geological setting.

So, the igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary types of rocks are found in the continental mountain ranges.
