How did the timing of General Washington’s attack on Trenton help ensure a colonial victory?
dimaraw [331]
He attacked on Christmas. Puritans in the New World did not celebrate Christmas, but the Hessians (German mercenaries used by the British) certainly did. So the Americans launched a surprise attack on the Germans who were...ahem...celebrating, to put it mildly

If you had been making the journey on the Mayflower what would you have done to prepare for life in america
emmainna [20.7K]
I would bring hygienic stuff because most people died on ships due to diseases and there have been outbreaks of viruses (especially during the winter) in settlements. I would also bring seeds/ food with me because then once I arrive I could begin harvesting before the winter. Speaking of winter, I would also bring anything that would keep me warm such as animal fur, blankets, etc.

The Hepburn Act is a 1906 United States federal law that gave the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) the power to set maximum railroad rates and extended its jurisdiction. This led to the discontinuation of free passes to loyal shippers.[1] In addition, the ICC could view the railroads' financial records, a task simplified by standardized bookkeeping systems. For any railroad that resisted, the ICC's conditions would remain in effect until the outcome of legislation said otherwise
