Answer:

  1. Gram-negative
  2. Oxygenic phototrophs
  3. **Anoxygenic phototrophs (<em>only a few species</em>)
  4. May possess nitrogenase
  5. Some species may form filamentous multicellular associations

Explanation:

Cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae, are organisms that obtain their energy through photosynthesis.

1. Cyanobacteria are considered gram-negative. However, studies show that their envelope exhibit some gram-positive characteristics.

2. Cyanobacteria and other organisms, such as algae, <u>use photosynthesis take the energy from light (the sun), which results in the generation of oxygen as a byproduct.</u> Therefore, they are oxygenic phototrophs.

3. Anoxygenic organisms don't generate oxygen as a byproduct and use hydrogen sulfide rather than water. Although most cyanobacteria are oxygenic phototrophs, few species, such as<em> </em><em>Oscillatoria limnetica</em>, have developed environmental adaptations such as the ability of sulphide-dependent anoxygenic photosynthesis (Hamilton, 2019).

4. and 5. Some species of cyanobacteria form filamentous multicellular associations (some are unicellular species) and synthesize the enzyme nitrogenase to fix molecular nitrogen.

Pure chlorine is an example of an element.

An element is a chemical substance that cannot be broken down into simpler components in a chemical reaction or by any chemical means, and is made up of atoms that all have the same number of protons. Pure chlorine is an example of an element because it contains only one kind of an atom. Chlorine is a toxic, green, gaseous chemical element. Chlorine is a halogen, has an atomic number of 17, symbol Cl and is found in group 17 in the periodic table. Chlorine is highly reactive and a strong oxidizing and disinfecting agent.

How might Schwann's observations about embryos have affected the theory of spontaneous generation?
gladu [14]

The theory of spontaneous generation exclaimed that living organisms could arise from non-living matter.

Schwann affected this theory by demonstrating that fermentation required the presence of yeasts to start and that was not caused by oxygen as was speculated.

Schwann concluded by his experiments that sugar was converted to alcohol as part of an biological process based on the action of a living organism - the yeast.
