China does not want outside influences from countries such as America, they're do not want their own country to start changing their ways and adapting to the western culture instead of the Chinese traditional one.

Since china is a socialist and undemocratic country most of sector is controlled by the government so it has to control most things that reach to the people so they can't see the real taste of democracy and protest to the government.
