Vertically opposite angles formed by two lines intersecting each other are equal.

What is a transversal?

A transversal is a line that intersects two or more two lines at two or more two distinct points.

We know when two straight lines intersect each other their vertically opposite angles are of equal measure.

Given, m∠1 + m∠2 = 180° and m∠2 + m∠3 = 180°.

Therefore we can equate these two expressions.

m∠1 + m∠2 = m∠2 + m∠3.

Or,

m∠1 + m∠2 - m∠2 = m∠3.

∴ m∠1 = m∠3.
