In the middle of the ocean the sedimentation rate is as slow as 0.5 - 1 cm because the sediments are only from the wind, that was blown. then in continental margins, sedimentation rate is very fast at about 2-4 m per 1000 yr. so in deep ocean, sedimentation rate is about 2 - 5 cm per 1000 years.

How are rocks affected by different types of stress?
Alexeev081 [22]

Answer:

rocks that are pulled apart are under tension. rocks under tension lengthen or breaks apart. tension is the major type of stress at divergent plate boundaries. when forces are parallel but moving in opposite directions, the stress is called shear.

Describe the effect of untreated wastewater on the chemical, physical and biological quality of urban streams or rivers.
aleksklad [387]

Answer:

Waste water is any water that is affected by human use and is combination of all domestic, industrial and agricultural stuffs.

Explanation:

 • It can be also called as the stormwater or surface runoff, or sewer infiltration. This type of water can include the domestic wastes involved in households like toilet flushes, dishwashers, washing machines, and detergents. This type of water in developing countries if often treated with septic tanks, drain fields, and onsite sewage systems.
 • Chemical or physical pollutants include heavy metals, organic and inorganic soluble matter such as urea, gases as hydrogen sulfide, various oxides and toxins of pesticides and methane.
 • Use of micropollutants like plastics, and thermal pollutants like heat energies derived from the power station and industrial manufactures. Certain biological sources of pollutants like Bacteria, Virus, and Protozoa, and parasites like organisms.
 • It can include parasitic like insects, arthropods, and others that reduce the biological oxygen capacity of the freshwater stream and decline in the fish population due to the nutrification of water and contaminants due to the wastewaters.

Thousands of years from now, a continental plate begins to collide with an oceanic plate. which of the following landforms would
gregori [183]
As the two plates collide, the denserr oceanic plate will subduct under the less dense continential plate, causing the continential plate to arch up and form a mountain range.

Let's look into it one by one:

A. An underwater mountain range will will run along the boundary on the oceanic plate. - This is false.

As the oceanic plate subducts under the continential plate, there is no chance for the denser material to accumulate while subducting. What would be find instead is ocean trench.

B. A mountain range will form in the middle of the continental plate. - This is false.

Although pressure will be applied and there would be stress accumulating on the continential plate, the middle is very unlikely to be affected.

C. A mountain range will run along the boundary on the continental plate. - This is true.

As the subduction happens, the continential plate will accumulate as it is less dense. The rock would fold up to form mountain ranges. For example, Rockies is one off the mountain range along the plate.

D. A chain of islands will form along the boundary of the oceanic plate. - This is false.

Similarly to A. it is not possible for the plate to accumulate when it slides under the other plate.

Therefore the answer is C. A mountain range will run along the boundary on the continental plate.

Hope it helps!
