Once africans boarded the slave ships for the journey to the americas, what had become of them?

History

weeeeeb [17]3 years ago

Answer: About 30% of them died during the voyage

Explanation: The journey was between 6 to 8 weeks, with the Africans tightly packed together to maximise the profits for any given trip. This led to poor hygiene and before long there was dysentery on the ships. Dysentery was the single biggest killer on board slave ships during the middle passage and on average 30% of the human cargo didn't make it to America.

The survivors of the inhumane voyage were sold into servitude, mostly plantations for agriculture. In some colonial states like Virginia, slavery even became a heritable condition based on the mother's status.

This requirement only applies when the law in question requires the government to have acted.

This state action requirement extends to a number of actions.

According to the Supreme Court in Edmonson v. Leesville Concrete Co., Inc., 500 U.S. 614 (1991), "Although the conduct of private parties lies beyond the Constitution's scope in most instances, governmental authority may dominate an activity to such an extent that its participants must be deemed to act with the authority of the government and, as a result, be subject to constitutional constraints."

What forces shaped the culture in the country of uae and dubai in particular? how similar or different are these forces from tho
mash [69]
From a United States vantage, the culture of UAE and Dubai may seem from a distance to be some stereotype of a conservative Arab culture. In fact, much like the United States, these cultures have been transformed by modern forces such as international finance, wealth and immigration from other areas. Thus, rather than stressing elements some would label "traditional", I would emphasize that both cultures are shaped by the same modern cultural influences in the United States.
