Helmut Kohl or Helmut Josef Michael Kohl was the German Chancellor from 1982-1998. He was the chairperson of CDU(Christian Democratic Union). As a social figure, he was actively devoted to European integration as reflected by his intrusive policies to diminish the power of the Soviet Union. His impressive strategies to reunite Germany led him to have the longest tenure of a German chancellor. For which he is also famous as "Chancellor of Unity". His chief concerns included the economic reforms and the integration of East Germany. His contributions are numerous and so are the titles were given to him like "the greatest European leader of the second half of 20th century", second to be named as "Honorary citizen of Europe".
