C.) Both inform the reader that Faryad and Liaqat were not given the chance to tell their version of events at the police station.

In the frames, both Faryad and Liaqat put their fingerprint on a piece of paper when they are at the police station. However, neither of them  are given a chance to tell their story. In Faryad's case, "the police write down what they claim has happened". The testimony in the report is not Faryad's. In Liaqat's case, after he put his fingerprint on the paper, he was told to leave and not given any interview.

Option D is incorrect because the reader is not the one responsible for investigating what Faryad and Liaqat were prevented from saying. It does make the reader curious and interested, but the reader can't do the investigation. Option B is wrong because there is no miscommunication. Option A is wrong because there is no proof or even mention of a death in either the frames or the excerpt.

Which excerpt from The Great Fire best supports the theme that there was a sense of hope that the city would rebuild after the f
earnstyle [38]

“Alfred Sewell ended his discussion of Chicago with a stirring prediction: ‘The city will nevertheless rise again, nay, is already rising, like the Phoenix, from her ashes. And she will, we believe, be a better city as well as a greater one, than she was before her disaster.’”

This is the best option because it gives the feeling of hope. The image of the Phoenix rising out of the ashes is meant to show that Chicago will once rise again. It will come back and be even better. The quote says that the city will "rise again" and "is already rising". Two of the other options only speak of the devastation of the fire. The option about the workers tells about the demand for laborers but it doesn't necessarily evoke a sense of hope in rebuilding.

How would you describe the conflict of the lottery
arlik [135]

Answer:

Sample Answer - Please Rewrite in your own words

Explanation:

One conflict in the short story "The Lottery" concerns Tessie Hutchinson versus her small village. Tessie challenges the brutal ritual, but her neighbors force her to participate. There is another conflict involving the northern villages, who have ended the ritual. The wider, underlying conflict concerns tradition versus modernity, and Mr. Summers is in conflict with the villagers over replacing the black box.
