How are potassium and sodium transported across plasma membranes?

Biology

A resting plasma membrane has carrier proteins on its surface. Energy derived from ATP is usually utilized by these carriers to change their shape in order to carry different molecules into or out of the cell. The sodium pump is a membrane protein which uses energy from ATP to carry sodium ions out of the cell and allow potassium ions into the cell to replace sodium.

Anettt [7]

Answer:

antimicrobial peptides

Explanation:

Antimicrobial peptides are short-chained amino acids that are produced as a result of the innate immune defense which can kill various pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

The structure of these antimicrobial peptides consists of a large portion of hydrophobic residues along with positively charged residues such as arginine and lysine.

Antimicrobial peptides employ the use of various mechanisms to combat the pathogens that enter the body. Some of these mechanisms are ;

1. Destabilizastion of membrane.

2. Formation of transmembrane channels

3. Functioning as immunomodulators.

If bicoid mRNA is injected at the anterior end of an egg from a bicoid mutant mother, what would the phenotype of the resulting
JulijaS [17]

If the larva had one head at the posterior pole, it would be normal. The larva would have two heads, one at the front of its body and the other in the center.

What is bicoid mRNA?

When translated, bicoid protein forms a morphogen gradient that shapes the embryo's head and thorax if bicoid mRNA localizes to the anterior of the Drosophila egg.

How does the egg's bicoid RNA influence development?

According to recent research, Bicoid specifies the anterior of the Drosophila embryo in two different ways. It initially suppresses posterior development. It accomplishes this by attaching to and preventing caudal RNA, which is distributed throughout the egg and early embryo, from being translated.
